Dr. Alexis A. Nelson, PhD, MSW, LSW, LCC, is a social worker, advocate, and Maxwell-certified coach, teacher, speaker, and trainer. She is the founder of Be Exceptional Support Together (B.E.S.T.), a nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals with exceptional abilities and their families. Through the R.A.I.S.E. model—Resources, Advocacy, Integration, Support, and Empowerment,B.E.S.T. bridges gaps in education, healthcare, and community access. The organization provides IEP advocacy, adult service navigation, family support, and leads awareness efforts such as the Don’t Stare, Just Care movement, all rooted in restoring dignity, amplifying voices, and empowering individuals to thrive.
